Music is and has always been competitive if a musician decides to become a professional musician. From an early age, I knew that music was my path. Though I heard stories of how women were used (men too but especially women), it didn’t take long for me to decide that I wasn’t going to sell my soul in order to be famous or “make it big”. This was during the 80s when I got out of college and hoped to be a famous singer and guitarist. Then, you had to impress an agent, and then get with a label.
If it was competitive then, the use and accessibility of music via digital recordings and YouTube made it trickier. That doesn’t mean that there’s not a way to make a living, but that a new musician has to get their voice or instrument heard in as many venues as possible; including social media. This page will keep a list of young artists in our area who have talent and that we want you to hear. If you know of a young North Carolina musician you want to support, please contact Robin using the contact form.
